직원1: 뭘 도와드릴까요?

직원1: May I help you?

동엽: 네, 저기 계좌를 하나 개설하고 싶은데요, 어디로 가야 할 지 모르겠는데.

동엽: Yes, I'd like to open a new account, but I don't know where I can do it.

직원1: 저기, 에스칼레이터 보이시죠? 그걸 타고 2층으로 올라가셔서 내리자마자 왼쪽으로 도시면 customer representative들이 보이실 겁니다. 그 사람들한테 문의하세요.

직원1: Do you see that elevator there? Take it to the second floor, turn left as soon as you come out, and then you will see customer  representatives. You have to ask them about it.

동엽: 감사합니다. (2층) 저, 여기서 새로 구좌를 하나 열려고 하는데요

동엽: Thank you (upstairs) Excuse me, I'd like to open a new account here.

직원2: 아, 그래요? 우선 앉으시죠. 어떤 계좌를 열고 싶으신가요?

직원2: Oh, yes. Have a seat please. What kind of account would you like to open?

동엽: 그냥, 보통 예금 구좌로 열고 싶은데요, 그리고 신용카드도 하나 신청하려구요?

동엽: I just want a checking account, but I would also like to apply for a credit card.

직원2: 그렇다면 서류를 몇 개 작성 하실 게 있는데요, 우선 신분증 먼저 보여주시고, 살고 계신 곳의 주소를 확인 할 수 있는 것을 보여 주셔야 합니다

직원2: Then you have a couple of documents to fill out, but you need to show me some ID and something that can verify your address.

동엽: 살고 있는 곳의 주소를 확인할 것이라뇨?

동엽: What do you mean by something that proves where I live?

직원2: 뭐, 사시는 곳 주소가 적힌 우편 봉투나 고지서 같은 거요. 그냥 본인의 성함과 주소가 적힌 것이면 됩니다.

직원2: Well, we need something such as an envelope or a bill with your address on it. Something that just shows your name and address.

동엽: 아, 저는 여기에 잠시 출장 때문에 온 거라서, 현재 호텔에서 머물고 있거든요. 그래서 주소를 입증할 것이 없는데요

동엽: I'm only here for business temporarily, and I'm staying in a hotel right now, so I don't have anything to show you where I live.

직원2: 그래요? 그런 경우에는 신용카드를 발급해 드릴 수 없습니다. 하지만 보통 예금 계좌를 여는 것은 상관없어요. 계좌를 여시겠습니까?

직원2: Really? In that case, we can’t issue you a credit card, but you can still open a checking account with us. Would you like to open one now?

동엽: 그러죠.

동엽: Sure.

직원2: 그럼 이 양식에 빈 칸을 채워주세요. 미니멈 밸런스는 얼마로 하시겠어요? 미니멈 밸런스에 따라 이자율이 다른데요, 미니멈 밸런스가 500불이면 일년 이율이 3%, 1000불 이상이면 5%입니다. 하지만 미니멈 밸런스가 없으면 이자는 안 붙어요. 얼마로 하시겠어요?

직원2: Then, please fill in blanks on this form. How much would you like for your minimum balance? Interest rates are different depending on minimum balance. If your minimum balance is 500 pounds, the annual interest rate is 3%, and if it is 1000 pounds, you will have a 5% annual interest rate. If you have no minimum balance, there is no interest. How much would you like to deposit?

동엽: 그냥 안 지정할래요. 여기에 그냥 한 달 정도만 있을거니까.

동엽: I don't want a minimum balance. I'll only be staying here for a month.

직원2: 그러시죠. ATM 카드도 원하세요?

직원2: That's okay. Would you like an ATM card also?

동엽: 네.

동엽: Yes.

직원2: 그럼 여기에 password를 입력해 주시겠어요? 이건 임시 ATM카드고, 새로운 ATM 카드가 발급되는 데는 2주가 걸립니다. 호텔로 부쳐 드릴까요?

직원2: Then, would you enter your password here? This is your temporary ATM card  and it takes two weeks to issue a new one. Do you want me to send it to your hotel?

동엽: 아뇨, 새로 집을 구할 예정이라서 제가 직접 찾으러 오죠.

동엽: No, I'm going to get an apartment, so I'll pick it up in person.

직원2: 그럼, 얼마를 입금하시겠습니까?

직원2: Then, how much would you like to deposit?

동엽: 3000불이요.

동엽: 3000 pounds.

직원2: 자, 모든 절차가 끝났습니다. 그리고 이건 당분간 쓰실 개인 수표인데요, 아직 주소가 없으시기 때문에 나중에 주소가 정해지시면 그 때 오셔서 더 달라고 하세요.

직원2: Okay, it's all set and these are your temporary personal checks. You don't have a local address now but if you acquire one later, please come to us and ask us for some more.

동엽: 네, 감사합니다.

동엽: Okay, thank you very much.
