 제 17강 - 견적서 요청하기 

 

동엽:  Here is the quotation from Jefferson & Johnson Company.
시원:  Okay, let’s take a look at it. Hmm, they say they can give us a 5% discount on

          a substantial order. Well, I’m wondering whether or not they can offer us an additional           5% discount.
동엽:  And the letter also says that one of their representatives  is planning to visit Seoul           sometime next week, so if we’re interested in meeting him, they want us to call
           them immediately.

시원:  Really? That’s great. Then, we can have a better chance  to negotiate prices. Let’s see,           what’s the time difference between London and Seoul?

동엽:  I believe it’s nine hours.

시원:  Hmm, now it’s 10 am now. That means it's 1 am over there. We  have to wait another

          7 hours. Just e-mail them first and say  we’re very interested in seeing their           representative and I’mafraid  you're going to have to call them this evening.

동엽:  Okay, no problem.

(At 6 o’clock)

동엽     :  Hello, this is Dong-Yup Shim with Lara company. I’d like to
              speak with Mr. Andrew Kay.

앤드류  :  Speaking.

동엽     :  Hello, I received a letter from you today regarding the possibility
               of making an appointment with  one of your representatives.

앤드류  :  Ah, yes, I remember. I just talked with him 30 minutes ago, and he said he would                visit Korea  next Tuesday, so if you have time on that day, it would be great.

동엽     :  Next Tuesday? I’m afraid we can’t make Tuesday because
              we are planning to have a company picnic on that day.
               How long will he be staying here in Korea?

앤드류  :  For three days. He will arrive in Korea on Tuesday  and leave Thursday night.

동엽     :  I see, then what about Wednesday morning? Around ten o’clock?

앤드류  :  Well, I can’t give you a specific answer right now.
               Let me call him first and get back to you. How does  that sound?

동엽     :  Can you just give me his direct phone number?

앤드류  :  No, we don’t do that. We don’t allow our representatives  to contact their                prospectiveclients directly before starting  to do business.

동엽     :  Oh really. Then please call me back.

앤드류  :  Okay, I’ll speak to you soon.

   동엽  :  Jefferson & Johnson으로부터 견적서가 왔는데요.

시원  :  그래, 그럼 한 번 살펴보지. 흠, 대량으로 주문하면 5% 할인을 해 줄 수 있다고
             하는군. 그럼, 추가로 5%의 할인을 더 해 줄 수 있는 지 어떤 지 궁금하네.

동엽  :  그리고 서신에 따르면 그들의 세일즈 맨 중 하나가 다음주 중에 서울을 방문할
             계획이 있다고 하던데요, 그래서 우리가 그 사람을 만나고 싶어하면, 즉시
             자기들에게 전화를 달라고 하던데요.

시원  :  그래? 그거 잘 됐네. 그럼, 가격을 흥정할 더 좋은 기회를 갖게 되는 거잖아.
             가만, 런던이랑 서울이랑 시차가 어떻게 돼?

동엽  :  9시간인 것 같은데요.

시원  :  지금이 오전 10시니까, 그러면 거기는 새벽 1시라는 얘기네. 7시간을 더
             기다려야 한다는 얘긴데, 그냥 우선 그 사람들한테 우리가 그 세일즈 맨을
             매우 보고 싶어한다는 것에 대해 이 메일을 보내고, 오늘 저녁에 한 번 전화를 해보라고.

동엽  : 알겠습니다.

 
(오후 6시)
동엽     :  여보세요, 여기는 라라 회사의 심 동엽입니다. 저는 앤드류 케이씨와 통화 하고 싶은데요.

앤드류  :  전데요.

동엽     :  여보세요, 오늘 귀사로부터 세일즈맨 중 한 사람과 약속을 잡는 것에 관한                  

               편지를 받았는데요.

앤드류  :  아, 네, 기억나요. 지금 방금 30분 전에 얘기를 했는데요, 그 사람 말로는 다음주 화요일에

               방문 할 것 같으니까, 만약 그날 시간이 있으시면 그냥  뵈면 좋겠다고 하시는데요.

동엽     :  다음 화요일이요? 다음 화요일에는 회사 피크닉을 가기로 되어 있어서 그 날은  안 될 것

               같은데요. 서울에서 얼마나 머물 예정이십니까?

앤드류  :  사흘 동안이요. 화요일에 한국에 갔다가 목요일 밤에 떠날겁니다.

동엽     :  알았어요, 그럼 수요일 아침은 어때요? 10시쯤에요.

앤드류  :  글쎄요, 정확한 대답은 지금 줄 수 가 없는데요. 먼저 전화를 하고 나서 다시
               전화를 드리죠. 어떻습니까?

동엽     :  그냥 그 사람 직통 번호를 주시면 안되요?

앤드류  :  안됩니다. 저희는 거래를 시작하기 전에 세일즈 맨과 가망있는 고객과 직접
                 연락 하는 것을 허락하지 않습니다.

동엽     :  그래요?. 그러면, 나중에 다시 전화해주세요.
앤드류  :  그럴게요. 다음에 연락 드리겠습니다.
